Terms
These are the terms for using this website and for the first contact. The work itself is governed by the engagement letter you receive before anything starts, which sets out the fee, the scope and the ICAEW standard terms.
Scope
Tax Filed For You prepares and files tax returns and quarterly updates for individuals and businesses in the UK. Nothing on this site is tax, legal or financial guidance for your particular situation until you have engaged us in writing.
Fees
Every fee is shown on the page before you give us a single detail. There are no percentage fees and no charges that are not listed.
For the CIS services nothing is payable at sign-up. The fee is due when you approve the draft return we send you, which shows the refund HMRC owes you or that none is due, and is paid on the approval page; we file the return once the payment has cleared. If the draft shows that no refund is due, the lower fee on the pricing page applies. For the landlord annual service, the fee is due when you approve the first quarterly update. If you are a consumer you may cancel within 14 days of accepting the engagement letter, by any clear statement to us; the letter carries a cancellation form. By accepting it you ask us to start work within those 14 days, agree to pay in proportion for work done if you then cancel, and acknowledge that once a return is filed the service is fully performed and the right to cancel ends. For the monthly service there is no minimum term and you may cancel from the next month. The firm is not VAT registered and no VAT is added to any fee.
The five lines every engagement carries
- The price you sign at is the price for the year.
- Next year's price is stated before you decide, and nothing renews by itself.
- A named chartered accountant signs your return, and you are told who before it is filed.
- Your records go to you or your next accountant within five working days of asking, free.
- No marketing messages unless you tick yes, and every one has a one-tap stop.
Refunds from HMRC
Any tax refund is paid by HMRC directly to you. We never take an assignment of your refund and we do not hold client money.
What we rely on
Returns and calculations are prepared from the records you supply. Nothing goes on a return without a statement, receipt, bank line, mileage log or HMRC's own flat rate behind it, so if HMRC asks, we can show them. You are responsible for the completeness and accuracy of what you send, and the engagement letter asks you to confirm the figures before anything is filed. We will tell you if something looks wrong.
What we do not do
- We do not give investment, mortgage or legal services and will refer you to a suitably authorised person where one is needed.
- We do not hold client money and do not take assignments of refunds.
- We are not part of, and are not endorsed by, HM Revenue and Customs.
Liability
Liability for each engagement is limited as set out in the engagement letter and covered by professional indemnity insurance. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud or for anything that cannot be limited by law.
Complaints
Email patrick@taxfiledforyou.co.uk. If you are not satisfied with the response you may refer a complaint to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
